Acquiring Danilo Gallinari in three-team trade

After trading Paul, the Clippers’ front office still realized they had some work to do before the season started.

In July 2017, they were involved in a three-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets which saw them send Jamal Crawford, Julyan Stone, the first-round pick they’d acquired from Houston and cash to Atlanta to make room for a Danilo Gallinari signing.

While he played just 21 games last season, his impact offensively has been of particular importance this season and he’s proven to be a high-level scorer.

His injury history is fairly concerning, but he’s averaging an impressive 19.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists on 43.3 percent shooting from the field and 44.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc in 30.2 minutes per contest.

Considering they gave up a 37-year-old Jamal Crawford, an unproven Julyan Stone and what turned out to be the 30th pick in the 2018 draft to get him, this was a very good move. However, once more, the Clippers’ front office still knew they had some work to do.
