1. Phoenix Suns

Why the Celtics say yes:

Troy Daniels would be a one-year rental, but would be a cheap retaining option if the Celtics like what they see. Daniels’ best asset is his ability to shoot from 3. However, this season he’s shooting a career-low of 27.3 percent from 3. A lot of that can be accredited to his minutes being significantly dropped from 20.5 per game to 9.3 per game.

Last season when he was seeing regular floor time, he shot 40.0 percent from deep on 5.8 attempts a night. Daniels has always been a sharpshooter from downtown and a team that would benefit from that is the Celtics.

Boston is currently third in the NBA in 3-pointers attempted. Despite the team’s success from beyond the arc, it still hasn’t clicked on offense. Adding Daniels may allow the Celtics to spark things alongside of Marcus Smart. Smart isn’t the best shooter and would possibly benefit from having a shooter like Daniels next to him.

The Celtics would also be pocketing a protected 2021 first round pick in this situation. The Suns have a chance at being a solid team at that point if their young talent moves in the right direction. A 2019 protected first round pick has little value to the Celtics, because the Suns are bidding for another top draft pick.

Why the Suns say yes:

The Suns would say yes to this because they desperately need a point guard. They’ve been looking for possible solutions and Rozier can be that answer. Charania (and others) have already reported the team has had interest in Rozier in the past and still does.

He would bring much-needed defense alongside of Devin Booker. The Suns are a team to watch as Rozier potentially gets shopped around. Of all the teams in the NBA, the Suns are the one franchise that needs a point guard the most. Right now their best point guard is Elie Okobo — a late second round pick from the 2018 NBA Draft.

It’s safe to say that having a point guard on their team will help the Suns. This would also make Booker and Deandre Ayton‘s lives a lot easier. The 2019 NBA Draft is wing-heavy. It would be a stretch for the Suns to draft a point guard based where they will likely be sitting in the draft.

Adding Rozier gives them a point guard and would erase a major concern entering the 2019 offseason. These three trades make sense for each team. Rozier’s trade value is a lot slimmer than what it was to start the season.

If it wasn’t known that he was unhappy or an upcoming free agent, then the Celtics would be able to get more in return. This is something to keep an eye on as the season continues.
