On the other hand, Barnes has shown enough promise in Dallas to warrant making him a key piece in the Mavericks’ offense. While he does have limitations, his offense can be explosive, and he has the athleticism to play right alongside Doncic and Smith to complete the ever-popular Big 3 trend.
The Mavericks have a great opportunity to keep their offense humming in a time when offense is the name of the game in the NBA. Barnes is a player who has been playing a style of basketball that was slightly ahead of his time and would be valuable as the offensive-minded game of the NBA doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Looking toward the future, Barnes is a good player to keep long-term during a rebuild and has been accountable in terms of knowing what you’re going to get from him. He has the capabilities to thrive on this Mavericks team and the stage is set for him to rise the ranks if the Mavericks give him the opportunity.
