Minnesota Timberwolves: Ranking the franchise’s 5 best jerseys
By James Grieco
4. 1989-96 original road jersey
- Playoff appearances: N/A
- Notable players: Pooh Richardson, Isaiah Rider, Christian Laettner, Sam Mitchell
The originals naturally hold a place in Minnesotans’ hearts. The logo looked more like a Husky than a Wolf, but having basketball back in the Twin Cities was magical.
The design overall was quite straightforward, but jerseys back in the day were largely rudimentary until franchises started experimenting more in the 90s. The color scheme, lake blue and forest green, works beautifully in both the home and road jerseys.
As an expansion franchise, the jerseys didn’t witness many victories, but that stretch of losing was more excusable than during Kevin Love’s tenure. There isn’t any one player that stands out in these since Kevin Garnett only played one year before the franchise rebranded itself, but the overall look still resonates on nostalgia alone.
Here’s hoping these get a throwback edition one of these years.
