Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 trade proposals for J.R. Smith
By Tony Pesta
3. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder are a team that is seemingly just a few pieces away from being a true championship contender. They already have stars such as Russell Westbrook and Paul George, combined with solid role players in Steven Adams and Andre Roberson. Perhaps the addition of a 3-point specialist like J.R. Smith could put them over the top?
The ideal part of this trade for the Thunder is that they are not giving up any great 3-point shooters outside of Alex Abrines, who is shooting 36.4 percent at the moment. As for the others, Patrick Patterson is shooting only 33.3 percent from the 3-point line while Terrance Ferguson is shooting a mere 7.1 percent.
Smith would be a great sixth man for this team as they are lacking a solid shooter off the bench. Pairing current sixth man Dennis Schroeder and Smith could be a great move as they would turn into one of the best offensive benches in the league.
The Cavaliers would receive three players. Alex Abrines and Terrance Ferguson are two young and promising prospects. These types of players are exactly what the franchise is looking for right now. Furthermore, Patrick Patterson is a big man that can stretch the floor, something that is always going to be valuable in the NBA.
