Danny Green

Stats: 10.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG in 31.1 MPG, 46.8 3P%

At first glance, Green’s stats aren’t the best, but what he does best are things that don’t show up on the box scores. He’s been one of Kyle Lowry’s favorite players to target every time he passes the ball, and he’s made good on those opportunities, as he’s made 48 percent of his catch-and-shoot 3s.

One of DeMar DeRozan‘s major downfalls during his tenure as a Raptor was his sketchy defense, which at times proved costly to the team’s overall defensive efficiency. Fortunately, Green, originally seen as a complement in the Kawhi Leonard trade, has stepped right in and shored up the void left by DeRozan. Opposing shooters are hitting just 34.2 percent of their shots when guarded by Green. For comparison, DeRozan’s matchups made 45 percent of their shots last year.

It’s fair to say that many saw this type of role for Danny Green with Toronto. He’s been known to be a great 3-and-D player throughout his whole career, and he fits in perfectly with Nurse’s system. Expect him to remain consistent as the season progresses.

Grade: B+
