Brooklyn Nets

Caris LeVert is the new face of the franchise: Treat

D’Angelo Russell has snapped back to life after a lackluster first few games, but there’s no question the Brooklyn Nets‘ alpha dog is now Caris LeVert. Jarrett Allen has immense two-way upside, but a big developmental summer for LeVert is already paying off for a franchise in need of a designated star.

Though he’s just under 20 points a night, his 18.9 points per game lead the team and he’s also throwing in 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds for good measure. LeVert is a committed defender, so really the only area of his game that needs refining is his 3-point stroke, since he’s only converting 29 percent of his 4.4 long range attempts per game.

Brooklyn finally owns its own draft pick this year, so maybe general manager Sean Marks cashes in on a potential top-10 selection to lead the charge. For the time being, however, it’s starting to look like LeVert will assert himself as the franchise star Russell was supposed to be.
