Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 major differences following coaching change
By Ryan Piers
The Cleveland Cavaliers fired head coach Tyronn Lue after an 0-6 start. Following one game under Larry Drew, here’s how things will clearly be different.
The chapters are shortening for this Cleveland Cavaliers team. First, they turned the page on the LeBron James era. Now, former head coach Tyronn Lue is gone just six games into the season. Could Kevin Love‘s story in Cleveland soon come to an end?
For better or worse, the fog of change has descended over Cleveland. On this Halloween, the ghosts of failures past appear to once again be haunting the team. The squad began anew, winless, under interim head coach Larry Drew — even if he disputes the title.
Drew coached his team to a impressive 136-114 win over the Atlanta Hawks in his first night in charge.
There is no shortage of questions concerning the franchise. Will Drew be the permanent coach? Does he even want the position? The answer to at least the latter of the questions appears to be “yes” following a press conference where he claimed he wanted to be part of the team “long-term.” But he sure has a funny way of showing it.
We’ll touch on that later on. Cleveland’s more pressing concerns are about the on-court play. The squad is 1-6 and will likely turn to tank mode if the wins don’t pile up soon. The Hawks victory feels like a step in the right direction, but it’s only one game. In any case, here’s how things will be different under Drew.
