With the firing of head coach Tyronn Lue, the Cleveland Cavaliers find themselves in the search for a replacement in hopes to turn their season around.

News broke from The Athletic‘s Shams Charania on Sunday that the Cleveland Cavaliers had decided to sever their relationship with head coach Tyronn Lue after an 0-6 start to the 2018-19 season. With 76 games left in the season and $15 million left on Lue’s contract, the front office felt it was important to quickly move on.

The Cavs’ payroll, lack of assets, and owner all suggest they are focused on staying relevant but would also like to see what they have on the roster regarding young talent.

With a desire to turn their season around and have some shot at a playoff spot, or at least stave off a complete rebuild, general manager Koby Altman will likely seek out a replacement for Lue that is a proven coach and could immediately make an impact both in the locker room and on the court for the Cavs.

Unfortunately, the loss of a head coach in October limits their search, excluding candidates who are currently in the league as assistant coaches. There is still plenty of talent in the free agent coaching pool though, so here are some names we can expect to see come up.
