With the first week of the season in the books, the Utah Jazz are off to a mediocre 2-2 start. Let’s look at three takeaways from the first week of 2018-19.

Expectations were high for the Utah Jazz entering the 2018-19 NBA season. After finishing off last year on a 29-6 tear and advancing to the second round of the playoffs, the excitement in Salt Lake City coming into the new season was understandable.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gone as planned. Though only one week has passed, the Jazz have looked mediocre at best, and at times downright awful. They seem to play well against good opponents, as they’ve looked great against the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors. However, they’ve looked abysmal against the Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies.

One of few bright sides thus far is that there’s plenty of time for Utah to return to form. It started last season slowly, with a record of 19-28 in mid-January before going on a historic run to end the season. With a roster this talented, it’s hard to believe that the Jazz will continue to struggle through the rest of the year.

Let’s take a look at three takeaways for the Utah Jazz after the first week of the NBA season.
