Prowling: Derrick Rose, playmaker

Tom Thibodeau loves his former MVP, Derrick Rose. That’s no surprise. What is surprising is how he still gushes over D-Rose in 2018. After Saturday’s loss in Dallas, where Rose put up 28 points, Thibodeau claimed, “As long as he’s healthy, he’ll be one of the best players in the league.”

Oh. My. Goodness.

Yet still, Rose has played aggressively every minute he’s been on the floor, which he should be commended for. While his athleticism has waned, he is still plenty capable of being a playmaker and distributor. So far he’s done magnificent things like this:

this…

and this…

Besides dropping 28 points on Dallas, Rose almost single-handedly beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 23 minutes he put up 12 points and eight assists while shooting 3-of-6 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. On the night, he had a point differential of +20.

Overall, the Wolves have a +2.2 net rating while Rose is on the court, which is currently better than Karl-Anthony Towns, Jeff Teague and Jimmy Butler’s net ratings.
