Trade No. 3

As previously stated, the Cavaliers have problems defensively on both the perimeter and interior. By giving up George Hill and Sam Dekker, Cleveland could potentially receive two players who are solid in both of these aspects of defense.

Timofey Mozgov stands at 7’1″ and is capable of protecting the paint. Mozgov isn’t going to be a prolific shot-blocker, but his mere size is an improvement to what the Cavaliers currently have. As of now, the tallest player on the Cavs roster is Ante Zizic, who stands at only 6’11” and does not play a significant role.

The acquisition of Jonathon Simmons would be a strong addition to the Cavaliers’ perimeter defense. Simmons is a great athlete who can guard multiple positions. He showed promise as a two-way player back in San Antonio and has been an average defender ever since.

This trade wouldn’t be a home run move by any means, but it should bring much-needed change to the roster. Simmons and Mozgov would both bring improvements to the defense and give the Cavs an actual chance at stopping opponents from scoring.
