Orlando Magic: 4 observations after first 4 games in 2018-19
By Luke Duffy
The Orlando Magic have had a decent start to the 2018-19 season. Here are four early observations after four games.
For the Orlando Magic, their 2-2 start has come in a way that only they could produce. Two three-point wins over the Boson Celtics and Miami Heat, as well as a one-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and 32-point beatdown by the Charlotte Hornets.
In theory, that home game against the Hornets should have been the easiest game of the lot on paper, and yet it produced the most disheartening result so far in this young season.
Already some trends are starting to emerge, which need to be taken with a large pinch of salt this early in the 2018-19 campaign. Some players have started the season better than expected, while head coach Steve Clifford has clearly tried to implement his vision on both sides of the court.
All of this has combined to put Orlando in a good position so far. There’s still much work to be done, and there may still end up being more losses than wins this year.
For now at least, the Magic are as competitive as anyone could’ve hoped to see. Here are four observations from their start to the season, some of which it would be great to see them keep up, with improvement needed in other areas.
