2. Bulls will be without their top defender

It is no secret the Bulls had their fair share of struggles when it comes the playing defense. Last season, they finished near the bottom of the league in every defensive category.

They did very little to change the trend, either, giving up 105.8 points per contest during their five-game preseason slate. Bearing that in mind, Chicago was hoping to turn things around at that end of the floor once the games started to count.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t exactly been the case. Not only are the Bulls ranked 23rd in points allowed per game (120), their defensive rating of 117.1 points per 100 possessions places them at 25th in the league. What is also a noteworthy stat is the fact Chicago has shot over 50 percent in two of the team’s three losses.

Dunn was far and away the best defender on the roster last season. Not only did he lead the team in steals (two per contest), he also plays with an edge — an attribute this group sorely lacks more times than not. His return to the lineup was supposed to bring about an improvement from a defensive standpoint, but thanks to this recent injury, the Bulls will be without their best defender on the floor for at least the next several weeks.
