3. The hits just keep on coming

The 2018-19 campaign has been anything but kind to these young Bulls. Lauri Markkanen — who was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team — will be out until November with an elbow injury. That news in itself was a big blow to the organization, considering the team’s desire to build the offense around him following a successful rookie campaign.

Then it was recently reported that Denzel Valentine will be out at least another two weeks due to bone bruise in his left ankle. This marks the third time in which Valentine has sustained a sprained left ankle in three seasons. A left ankle injury limited Valentine to just 57 appearances during his rookie season before he had surgery on it in May of 2017.

Now with Dunn out of the mix, the Bulls won’t be at full strength again for at least another month, and that’s only if Dunn is able to return on the lower end of the 4-6 week timeframe. While it is too early to hit the panic button, this is certainly not the way the team wanted to begin this season.
