The world-famous NBA impersonator Brandon Armstrong, better known as “BdotAdot5” talks New York Knicks and future hilarious impressions.

Brandon Armstrong, A.K.A. BdotAdot5, has become an internet staple in the world of comedy impressions. His short online video impersonations of popular NBA players have made him apart of the league culture, earning him opportunities to showcase his own skills at events like All-Star weekend.

He was the MVP of the 2017 NBA Celebrity All-Star Game while striking a deal with the NBA and Mountain Dew, who selected him to host their exclusive 3-on-3 basketball tour. He’s made appearances on talk shows and has influenced many around the country to do their own impersonations.

Hoops Habit caught up with Armstrong at a recent New York Knicks pregame event he hosted alongside former players Nate Robinson and David Lee. The 28-year-old shared his excitement working as an official NBA event host.

"“It feels amazing. It’s a blessing, I always drank Mountain Dew growing up. Who would actually think I’d end up working for them?”"

Any impersonations of Nate Robinson or David Lee coming soon?

"“I’ve got a couple of good Nate Robinson ones to let and definitely David Lee. Lee is a different under-the-basket player still able to get the job done with that unique left-hand.”"

Which all-time Knicks player would you like to impersonate?

"“Probably John Starks, I like Starks. Of course, Patrick Ewing. That whole cast — Charles Oakley, Allan Houston. If I was able to go to one of those well renown parks around here and an all-time Knicks impersonation then I definitely would do that.”"

Who is your favorite NBA player to impersonate?

"“Russell Westbrook just because he’s the one that started it. He’s my favorite player and he’s just the one that popped everything off. I just love his energy it’s just something that’s unmatched. That’s the impersonation that changed my whole life.”"

Who will win the title this season?

"“I got a good feeling the Knicks, I think the Knicks may take it. Might surprise these young boys gonna come together, Kristaps Porzingis comeback get those boys right.”"

Armstrong is still a professional basketball player most recently playing in Australia earlier this year. He spoke with ESPN about the experience back in March, confirming his desire to still be viewed as a serious competitor.

"“I try to be successful in whatever I do. I don’t have an end goal or an end plan. I don’t like to put a cap on things. Whatever happens, happens, I’m just going with the flow, taking it day by day. If this leads me playing in the NBA or the NBL, or playing in the SEABL or in Europe then I’m going to just go with it.”“Some teams looked at my highlights from Spain and the D-League and they were like ‘We don’t think this league is for you, it’s a little too good,’ and I’d never heard that before. There were teams that didn’t want to take the risk or they didn’t know how serious I really was. I wasn’t doing any impersonations, I was just training and working out. So Melbourne took a chance on me and I’m so happy and grateful for that.”"

As many Knicks fans were probably wondering, we can indeed confirm that there will be an official “Unicorn” Kristaps Porzingis impression in the works. Armstrong ended the interview simply saying “Porzingis impression coming real soon.”
