New York Knicks rookie Kevin Knox will have plenty of chances to produce this season. Here are five goals for the Knicks’ first-round pick.
The New York Knicks decided to take a little bit of a gamble in the 2018 NBA Draft. With the ninth overall pick, they selected Kentucky forward Kevin Knox.
Leading up to the draft, it sounded like New York would land a wing player. There were plenty available when they came on the clock. In addition to Knox, Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges and Michael Porter Jr. were available.
While fans booed the selection of Knox, it was a worthwhile risk by the Knicks. Mikal Bridges looked to be the safer selection, but Knox has the higher ceiling, and without the injury concerns that Porter had.
Knox started quieting critics during NBA Summer League. He was one of the leading scorers there, pouring in 21.3 points per game. He provided plenty of highlights with high-flying dunks and an impressive offensive arsenal en route to All-Summer League First Team honors.
That momentum carried over into the preseason. Knox would record a double-double in two of his first three games, an impressive feat for any rookie, let alone one of the youngest players in the NBA. Knox also became the youngest player to debut with the Knicks in their franchise history.
While Knox only shot 4-for-16 for 10 points in his regular season debut, there is still a lot to be excited about. He has immense potential and a skill-set that will mesh with the other players on the roster. In what could be a long season, we will see plenty of Knox. Here are five goals for Knox in his rookie season.
