Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 things that need to improve
By Tony Pesta
1. Offensive consistency
The biggest problem with the Cleveland Cavaliers in game one was their offensive consistency. A few cold streaks on offense were ultimately the deciding factor in their first game. Finding someone to carry the offensive load is going to be key to their season.
Kevin Love is the guy who will likely be the one to score at a high rate. Love has proven he can be an elite scorer, but how he responds to being the number one option again is yet to be seen.
In his first game, Love scored 21 points but shot just 5-for-18 from the floor. Hopefully, he will become more comfortable as the season progresses and will begin to shoot better.
A few other players that could help on the offensive end are Rodney Hood and Cedi Osman. Hood, in particular, is capable of scoring in bunches and is arguably the most versatile scorer on the team. Meanwhile, Osman has shown great promise in transition while also looking like a solid option as a catch-and-shoot player.
If the Cavaliers manage to get Love, Osman and Hood clicking in unison, the offense should have no problem keeping up with most teams. They also still have spark plugs such as J.R Smith, Jordan Clarkson and Kyle Korver who can help assist in the scoring department.
Combining the offensive talents of all of these players is the No. 1 thing the Cavaliers need to work on.
