1. Anthony Davis needs to remain the face of the Pelicans’ franchise

Davis stepped on the court as if he had not missed a beat from last season, finishing with 32 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and three steals. One could not ask for a better performance. Not only did he produce at an MVP level, but he also shot the ball well, going 13-of-21 from the floor. The chemistry with his supporting cast is clearly there.

Like last season, Davis will be in the running for the league’s MVP and rightfully, he should be. If he continues to play at this level, stay healthy and get his teammates to play a solid level each night, the Pelicans can be a mid-level contender in the Western Conference.

After Wednesday’s performance, it goes without saying that New Orleans needs to keep Davis in a Pelicans’ uniform at any cost. Hopefully more nights like this will keep him happy and eventually contending for championships.
