The Oklahoma City Thunder lost their first game of the 2018-19 season to the Golden State Warriors, but it was a close game throughout.

The Golden State Warriors have the most complete team in the league. Before their 2018-19 NBA season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder, they received their championship rings for their third title in four years.

With Russell Westbrook out of the game, it was thought that OKC would have no chance. However, the visiting Thunder hung in there with the defending champs and only lost 108-100.

They were able to get the lead at some points in the third quarter and kept it relatively close throughout the whole game. OKC looks like it still knows how to compete against the top teams in the league.

Paul George was able to extend his play from the preseason and score 27 points in the game. A 15-point third quarter by George helped the Thunder get 32 points in the period, which was the highest scoring quarter by either team.

Newly acquired Dennis Schroder scored 21 points, adding in nine rebounds and six assists. Steven Adams finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

Bearing all this in mind, what did we learn from the Thunder’s first game? Here are three takeaways from their season opener.
