1. Is New York a top free agent destination?

As the “Kyrie Irving dream” is slowly fading away, the rumors have started targeting other top upcoming free agents like Kevin Durant and Jimmy Butler, who could both be looking for a new home for the 2019-20 season.

But would NBA superstars be willing to sign for the Knicks? If we were still in the Phil Jackson era, no one would hesitate in answering with a simple but truthful “no.” There’s only a small number of players willing to face all the drama and the pressure that was accompanied by signing with the New York Knicks.

But now things are slowly starting to change. A more positive atmosphere around the locker room and a solid young core with a healthy Porzingis and Knox might be just enough to attract a new superstar in town.

If this core proves to be self-sufficient without Kristaps Porzingis, it could raise a few eyebrows. However, the Knicks might need some proof that some free agent could be on his way to The Big Apple before they started trading away “bad” contracts like Courtney Lee and Lance Thomas.

Being the colossal franchise that the Knicks have always been, it is a shame not having something of a treat for the fans.
