1. Shoot 37 percent from 3 and 80 percent from the free throw line

Quiet as kept, Huerter is a good shooter from 3, but not a great shooter from the free throw line. Usually, great shooters from distance can make shots from a closer distance, but Huerter failed to knock down 80 percent of his free throws in each of his two seasons at Maryland. Normally, this would be a bit of a concern in terms of questioning whether someone will be able to shoot at the next level.

This offers Huerter an excellent chance to quell some of those doubts. Even in a role player role, he should have plenty of chances to jack up some shots and get to the line. As someone who knocked down over 40 percent of his 3s during his stint in Maryland, he should have no problem in hitting 37 percent, which would make him an above-average shooter right out of the gate.

However, it’s the slight uptick as a free throw shooter that would be the biggest win. Not only would it solidify him as a potential great shooter as his game smoothes out and more playing time becomes available to him, but it would also show the improvement and development needed for him as he continues his career.
