1. Turn this season into a second contract

The results from this season with the Wizards will tell the tale for Dwight Howard’s career. If he finishes the 2018-19 season with productive numbers and the results are positive, it could turn into another year with him on board.

It’s not a bad thing considering the organization is still on the hunt for a young, athletic big. Howard wouldn’t be the worst upgrade on a short-term scale for Washington. Despite his past, he got a positive review from former Charlotte Hornets teammate Kemba Walker during NBA Media Day. That’s saying a little bit, considering they were the team that just traded him.

In Howard’s case, things should work out a bit better with Beal and Wall in Washington. If they do, he shouldn’t hesitate to take on the second season of his contract. It’s solely up to Howard, which is a good thing considering it puts less pressure on the front office and gives him more power to decide.
