Stocks down

Throughout the offseason, Kings fans boasted about a potential breakout season for De’Aaron Fox, Skal Labissiere and Buddy Hield. The preseason, however, didn’t indicate a breakout season for any of those players.

Fox had a strong game against the Los Angeles Lakers, but struggled with his shot against the Golden State Warriors (3-for-10), Maccabi Haifa (3-for-9) and Utah Jazz (1-for-10). Buddy Hield was also disappointing in the preseason. The third-year guard shot well against the Lakers and Maccabi Haifa, but struggled in the rest of the games.

Labissiere almost looks like a different person after he spent the offseason bulking up. Unfortunately, he looks like the same player on the court. The third-year player was constantly out-hustled and out-muscled in the preseason. Unfortunately for Labissiere, he may be out of the rotation for the moment.

Justin Jackson picked up where he left off in his rookie season, failing to contribute whenever he’s on the court. As the preseason proved, Jackson’s offense is still raw and his defense is full of holes. Still, much to the dismay of Kings fans, Joerger plans on keeping Jackson in the rotation. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before Joerger runs out of patience with Jackson.
