Stocks up

The few Kings players who improved their stocks in the preseason include Yogi Ferrell, Frank Mason III and Harry Giles III.

Ferrell, who was already a solid role player with the Dallas Mavericks for the past two season, looks like he’s set to make a huge contribution for the Kings. He came out on fire in the first preseason game against against the Phoenix Suns, scoring 26 points. He also played in the preseason finale against the Portland Trail Blazers, scoring 19 points in 41 minutes and dishing out five assists.

Meanwhile, Giles is slowly but surely living up to the hype that has surrounded him since high school. In six preseason games, Giles showed his ability to do a little bit of everything. He scored in a variety of ways, showed a competitive edge and displayed some dazzling passing skills.

Second-year guard Frank Mason had himself a solid preseason as well. Unlike his rookie season, he showed an ability to finish around the rim and took care of the ball. It was a critical stretch for Mason as he looks to stay in head coach Dave Joerger’s rotation and shed the issues that plagued him last year.
