Jonathan Isaac: Can he stay healthy?

In the flashes we’ve seen of forward Jonathan Isaac, it has looked like he had the potential to be a key piece for the Magic for years to come. That’s the problem though; we haven’t seen him nearly enough.

Entering his second season, this year will very much be about staying on the court and being healthy for as long as possible. If Isaac can do this, he is a near certainty to be a starter every game he’s available.

Already there is cause for concern. He missed some time during preseason with an ankle injury. Last year, he appeared in only 27 games (starting 10) because of ankle issues.

What is really concerning about this is the fact that Isaac has the kind of body type that, once injuries to the lower body become a regular occurrence, they can be hard to shake off. He’s only 21, so this is not ideal.

The only goal for Isaac this coming season should be staying healthy, and if he can get to around 60 games, that will be steps in the right direction. He has the potential to be a core player that Orlando builds around, we just need to see more of him.
