Evan Fournier: Can he make another leap offensively?

Evan Fournier led the Magic in scoring last season, posting a career-high 17.8 points per contest. He did so while shooting 37.9 percent from 3-point range, right on his career average.

The problem, however, is Orlando only won 25 games. While tanking was the objective then, and may ultimately end up being again this season, Fournier needs to start influencing the outcome of games more.

He had a Player Efficiency Rating of 15.5 last season, only slightly better than the league average of 15. The Magic did, however, have an offensive rating of 101.8 when he was on the court, miles better than the next-best number he’d ever put up in that category (95.9).

Fournier also tailed off as the year wore on, influencing games less and generally not having as much of an impact. If he can sustain the output we know he is capable of for a whole season, then it will have been a successful one.

More than that, he will need to once more lead Orlando in scoring, put up a similar offensive rating and improve his 3-point percentage a touch, all while helping the Magic to more wins. No pressure.
