3 reasons Cleveland Cavaliers won’t make the 2019 NBA Playoffs

They may actually be trying to win games, but that still won’t equate to a spot in the 2019 postseason for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

When LeBron James departed the Cleveland Cavaliers in the infamous summer of 2010, it signaled the end of an era. Even with someone as talented as James on the roster, the supporting cast wasn’t good enough to help get them over the hump, leaving a LeBron-less team with little to work with.

On the surface, this Cavs team faces similar circumstances to the one from nearly a decade ago, having to pick up the pieces after losing the chosen one to greener pastures.

Looking deeper, though, Cleveland is better equipped to handle this next period of the franchise, possessing talented prospects and experienced veterans.

However, when it comes to making the playoffs, a few nice pieces aren’t going to cut it, even out East. Rather, one needs a talented core that fits together cohesively and can execute on both ends of the court.

It’s no hot take to suggest the Cavaliers will claim more than the 19 victories they did back in 2011, but to suggest a postseason birth for this team is wishful thinking, as great of a story as it would produce.
