Furkan Korkmaz played sparingly during the 2017-18 campaign for the Philadelphia 76ers. His status in the rotation could rise with a solid 2018-19 season.

After getting off to a strong start to his offseason, Philadelphia 76ers‘ versatile guard Furkan Korkmaz has shown flashes of his potential entering the 2018-19 campaign. Korkmaz appeared in just 14 games last season, putting up just 1.6 points per game on 28.6 percent shooting. Since then, Korkmaz has taken a step forward, producing 10.3 points and 2.8 rebounds on 53.3 percent shooting from 3-point range and 62.5 percent shooting from the floor in preseason play.

Last season, Korkmaz wasn’t used much in the Philadelphia rotation, but this season, that could change. The most significant minutes he played were in the G League for the Delaware 87ers. For the 87ers, he put up 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game through nine appearances.

Other than that, he was seldom used in the Sixers lineup given those ahead of him. With Ersan Ilyasova and Marco Belinelli gone as reserves via free agency, it opens the door for Korkmaz to play some significant minutes during the 2018-19 season. He has certainly earned the right and has waited his turn since being selected 26th overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. He’ll need to be ready to play though, as others will be chomping at the bit behind him in the rotation. Here’s a look at three goals for Furkan Korkmaz in 2018-19.
