The 2018-19 season is right around the corner. Here are five reasons why Portland Trail Blazers fans should be excited.

Opening night in Rip City is just eight days away. Once tip-off commences, the Portland Trail Blazers will kick off a marathon season hoping to build on their 49-33 record and Northwest Division title. Simultaneously, they will hope to reach their sixth consecutive postseason and redeem themselves for last year’s first round playoff loss at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Eleven players return from last year’s roster, with the remaining four spots filled by guards — two rookies and two veterans playing on one-year minimum deals. With this outfit, the Blazers hope to revamp their offense with better floor-spacing. Portland dished out the fewest assists in the league and shot a middling amount of treys last season. This new outlook hopes to fix that issue.

On paper, Portland’s modest changes don’t stack up well against some of the Western Conference’s other teams. The tale of the tape and the sting of the playoff sweep have left people to wonder if the Blazers are capable of even making the postseason this year, let alone getting back into the top five in the West.

Still, this skepticism shouldn’t damper Blazers fans’ enthusiasm or keep them from tuning in once the season gets underway. Here are five reasons why people should get excited about the 2018-19 Portland Trail Blazers.
