The Washington Wizards should be a playoff team in 2018-19. Three reasons why dives into a breakdown of why they’re a lock for the 2019 postseason.

The postseason has been a staple for the Washington Wizards in the past two years. They’ve made the NBA Playoffs twice in two seasons under head coach Scott Brooks and that shouldn’t change entering his third season in 2018-19.

The Wizards probably have more than postseason aspirations on their mind, given how things have played out. All eyes have been on the signing of big man Dwight Howard after he was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Brooklyn Nets and then bought out. Many feel as though this will be another lowlight on Howard’s resume, but the Wizards should have other plans.

Washington made the most of its 2018 offseason, improving in the backcourt and adding frontcourt depth alongside Markieff Morris. It seemed the team ran out of juice during last year’s playoffs. By then, Otto Porter Jr. was out due to injury while Wall and Beal were averaging over 35 minutes per game in the rotation.

This season, things should be different with a more veteran bench presence of proven scorers, a full and healthy squad for the 2018-19 campaign and the added chip on their shoulder the Wizards will be playing with. Nobody will expect this roster to accomplish much, but with no LeBron James in the East, the title for best team is up for grabs. Here’s a look at three reasons why the Washington Wizards will make the 2019 NBA Playoffs this season.
