Orlando Magic: 5 big goals for 2018-19 NBA season

5. Show improvement
While it is hard for a team to regress from a 25-win season, this is the Magic we’re talking about here. They never fail to disappoint their hopeful fans and positive prognosticators.
Just when you think this team has the talent to make the next step, the injury bug hits (200 games missed due to injury across the roster last season) or they trade everyone away (ahem, Rob Hennigan’s entire tenure). This season, however, the Magic have the talent to make the next step.
When asked about goals for this season, Magic CEO Alex Martins had an answer along similar lines:
"“Our expectation should be that we are going to grow our players collectively,” Martins said. “We’re excited to see how these young players have improved themselves over the course of the summer. I can tell you I look down on the practice floor every single day and the majority of our guys have been here all summer long working on improving their games. We’re excited to see how it all comes together.”"
While this goal is very general, it’s an important one. The Magic haven’t won more than 35 games since 2012. Improving upon this and getting over this 35-win hump would be a very important step moving forward. It would instill confidence in current players and potentially attract others to come join this upstart group.
