Under a unique set of circumstances, the 2018-19 Toronto Raptors will almost definitely have one of the more eventful seasons in franchise history.

Following an offseason that saw them acquire one of the best players in the NBA when healthy, anticipation for the Toronto Raptors‘ upcoming season is extremely high.

Kawhi Leonard enters into an organization that won a franchise-record 59 games last season, stopped only in the playoffs by the greatness of LeBron James, who now resides in the Western Conference, leaving the door open for someone else to take the reins.

Having said that, with Leonard’s contract expiring after this season and his reported desire to reside in Los Angeles, the clock is ticking up north to make something happen in order to convince the former Finals MVP to remain with the team long-term.

What exactly the standard is for a Raptors squad with just one conference finals appearance and zero trips to the NBA Finals in their history is up for debate. In order to get Kawhi to sign on the dotted line and avoid a rebuild, though, the organization may have to think bigger than ever before.
