The case for Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller is one of the NBA’s famous shooters, best known for clutch shooting and a killer instinct. Once on a roll, Miller would drain tough shots from improbable angles. His eight points in nine seconds against New York was marquee entertainment.

Miller shot 39.5 percent from beyond the arc during his career. He averaged 1.8 treys per game over his spectacular 18 years. Reggie’s best season volume-wise saw him net 2.8 3-pointers per game. His highest percentage was 42.9 percent in 1997-98. He ranks second on the NBA’s all-time 3-point leaderboard with 2,560 made triples.

This is better competition for Steph in a head-to-head comparison. Miller shot the 3-ball historically well. Nonetheless, Curry is miles ahead. Why?

Because even Miller’s highest-percentage season (42.9 percent) falls short of Steph’s career mark (43.6 percent). Reggie’s highest-volume campaign (2.8 triples per game) also trails Curry’s career volume (3.4 per game). Factor in Steph’s best season in 2015-16 and Reggie is blown away completely.
