Following a season in which the Denver Nuggets missed the playoffs, the team will look to improve their record and make the postseason for the first time since 2013. Here are the things to know before the year begins.
Outside of a branding rebuild, the Denver Nuggets had a relatively quiet offseason.
Bypassing the flashy names to re-sign their own players was the Nuggets’ philosophy this offseason, as they doubled down on their young nucleus. Along with small additions, the Nuggets got rid of several unwieldy contracts including Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler and Darrell Arthur.
With the financial flexibility gained from getting rid of expiring deals, the Nuggets were able to not only re-sign their franchise cornerstone in Nikola Jokic, but also Sixth Man of the Year candidate Will Barton.
The Nuggets now have each of their three young starters in Jokic, Gary Harris and Jamal Murray under team control for at least the next two seasons.
The 2018 NBA Draft also produced a batch of young talent for the Nuggets as they added three players. The trio consisted of a pair of forwards and a center.
Ahead, we will take a look at the Nuggets going into the 2018-19 season and how their offseason will affect their postseason chances and beyond.
