The Orlando Magic may still be an organization that is flying under the radar, but there is still reason for excitement. Here are the top five reasons in 2018-19.

Although this summer was a relatively quiet one for the Orlando Magic, they still did all of the things they were supposed to on their path back to relevancy. This began with signing Aaron Gordon to a contract extension, and also included drafting center Mohamed Bamba.

Beyond that, there wasn’t much to report, but that’s not necessarily a negative either. Orlando didn’t make any foolish short-term signings, keeping their bigger picture firmly in focus.

In hiring another new head coach in Steve Clifford to pair with their young and improving roster, there is a feeling that now is the time to flip the switch and begin climbing the ranks once more. This won’t happen overnight, but to know the Magic should be better this season is encouraging.

Obviously success won’t be seen on a large scale for some time yet, and another year of finishing below .500 is likely. However, unlike years gone by, there is a plan now on how to get back to being a more competitive outfit.

That’s why another trip to the lottery next summer to pick up a point guard before really trying to be more competitive will be accepted by fans. Here are five reasons to be excited about the 2018-19 NBA season, a list that would have been tough to put together even two years ago.
