3. Tom Thibodeau will be fired

Veteran reporter Chris Sheridan dropped this crazy report a few days ago:

Sheridan is not the most reliable source in the NBA, but having anything like this out there in 2018 seems crazy. Thibodeau has too much decision-making power and Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is clearly at odds with him, but Thibodeau is a workaholic and doesn’t come across as the type to get himself fired, pocket the rest of the money on his contract and disappear.

Adrian Wojnarowski has noted that although Thibodeau is reluctant to trade Butler, he would for the right mix of veterans, assets and cap relief. Thibs knows his job is in jeopardy and wants to go for the playoffs if he is indeed coaching on borrowed time.

All of this is not even mentioning the strange timing of Butler’s trade request and the real possibility that he asked Thibodeau for a trade earlier in the offseason while the head coach sat on that information. If that came to light, Thibs would deserve to be fired on the spot.

Minnesota will probably not get a great haul for Butler, meaning it’ll be behind the eight ball in regards to the Western Conference playoff picture. If they miss the playoffs, Thibodeau will most definitely be relieved of both his coaching and front office duties.

With that being said …
