Storyline 1: Will this be the roster all season?

The Los Angeles Clippers have players like the Beach Boys have songs: a lot of good ones, no great ones. However, if they decide to try to consolidate talent by trading with a team that lacks some depth, that could change quickly.

Obviously, the big name on everyone’s mind right now is Jimmy Butler. He wants off of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he listed the Los Angeles Clippers as one of his preferred destinations. The Clippers have the pieces to get a deal done, should they choose to do so.

It’s not just Butler though. The Clippers have so many talented guards and such little depth on the wings that it seems like a trade is likely no matter what, unless they plan on converting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander into a small forward.

However, if they only make a marginal move (say, trading Milos Teodosic for Thabo Sefolosha and a draft pick, or something like that), that won’t really change their outlook very much. Additionally, it begs another question…
