2. Maintain defensive tenacity

Redick’s offensive numbers on a nightly basis last year were staggering for a player of his age in the NBA, but his ability to keep himself composed on both ends of the court in the later stages of his career is what goes unnoticed and underappreciated.

He ranked 21st in overall defensive rating in 2017-18, which means that he was one of the league’s best at forcing turnovers and missed shots.

The Sixers pride themselves on being one of the more dominant defenses in the NBA, and it has pushed them to greater heights just in the past year or two. As a serious contender already this preseason, their title hopes will be determined by their defensive stoppage or lack thereof in the playoffs.

Redick’s outright competitiveness over the years has been one of the main reasons why his relevance as a shooting guard hasn’t seemed to regress, and he cannot afford to lose that mentality in 2018-19.
