3. Guide the youth

In order to put together a great season, every player on the team must play up to, or at least close to the same level. Redick, being a veteran leader and the best shooter on the roster has to be the one to get them there.

The Sixers have built a collective group of young guards surrounding Redick in the rotation.

Not only has he lit it up on the court for the team, but he has quietly become an admirable mentor for the new members of the backcourt early into this preseason — most notably to Landry Shamet.

According to Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philly, Shamet and Redick have been working on their shooting together after each day of camp.

Markelle Fultz and a few of the other pieces in the backcourt could also benefit tremendously from having Redick as a teammate for at least another year, mainly with their shooting and creation off the dribble.
