The 2018-19 season is on the horizon for the Charlotte Hornets. Here are five goals for the team heading into this season.

It was just three seasons ago that the Charlotte Hornets won 48 games and made the playoffs. Despite improving seasons from Kemba Walker and the core of the team not changing too drastically, the team hasn’t gotten back to the playoffs since.

They tried to inject some life into the franchise with the Dwight Howard experiment last season, but that wasn’t good for the locker room. This season there are even more questions at the center position as they plan to fill the position by committee with Cody Zeller coming off his injury.

Many more questions surround the team including who starts at the wing positions. Nicolas Batum hasn’t been himself the last couple years and they drafted a promising player in Miles Bridges. Is Jeremy Lamb ready to take on a bigger role? Can Malik Monk capture the magic he had in college playing for the Kentucky Wildcats?

The core of this team could make a big shift this season with a new coach in town with former San Antonio Spurs assistant James Borrego. It also may take most of the season to answer those questions. There is a new culture in Charlotte with new general manager Mitch Kupchak and his new coach, so what five goals should the new regime set for the 2018-19 season?
