Brooklyn Nets: 5 reasons to be excited for 2018-19 NBA season

1. The team is legit

Depending on your definition of “legitimate,” the Nets may or may not be in that discussion. But if you’re talking competitiveness, they certainly have a case.

As all the aforementioned slides outline, this team is a lot better than people realize. Each addition in a vacuum might seem like a marginal addition to the bottom line, but compared to a rotation that gave guys like Quincy Acy legitimate minutes last year, this season’s group is a big step up.

The team has ball-handling, shooting, and copious amounts of each. There are no superstars on the roster, but the sheer volume of competent players is notable too. Not too many teams in the East can go 10-12 deep, especially not those competing in the Nets’ echelon.

When adding in how good of a developer Atkinson has shown to be, it’s not too crazy to see this team improving considerably from last season. His ability to augment even the bookend members of the rotation will go far with how many rotational pieces exist.

The depth, youth, and talent utilization of this organization work to formulate a more-than-competent whole. If that doesn’t sound like exciting to you, then you might just be Squidward.
