The Chicago Bulls have failed to reach the postseason in two of the past three years. In spite of that fact, here’s a look at five reasons to be excited about this team in 2018-19.

Although the Chicago Bulls decided to start from scratch heading into the 2017-18 campaign, last season was one to forget for several reasons. Let’s start with the defense.

Chicago finished near the bottom of the league in multiple defensive categories. In fact, outside of Kris Dunn, there isn’t a player from last season’s roster that can be categorized as an elite defender.

Next up, in failing to reach the 30-win plateau for the first time in 15 years, the Bulls have missed the playoffs in two of the last three seasons under head coach Fred Hoiberg. If not for a favorable schedule down the stretch of the 2016-17 season, Chicago would have been on the outside looking in each of Hoiberg’s three seasons in the Windy City.

These factors, along with the injuries that kept key players out of the lineup in various stretches, made for a somewhat painful season for the Bulls and their fans. In spite of the doom and gloom narrative, though, there a few reasons to be excited about this Bulls team heading in the 2018-19 season and today we will take a look at them.
