Atlanta Hawks: 2018-19 NBA season preview
Predictions
The Atlanta Hawks are finally building hope in their brutal rebuild. They now have name recognition from the young players they brought in which is a new concept for this team.
Atlanta is oozing with potential. Unheralded gems like DeAndre’ Bembry and Tyler Dorsey will have more time to find themselves. Forgotten guys like Alex Len and Thomas Robinson will be given chances to resurrect their careers.
It will be worth watching these guys for just those reasons alone.
Trae Young brings with him his many fans and just as many doubters who would love to see him fail. He has already starting working out and playing pick-up with other NBA stars which makes you think he is quickly fitting in.
If coach Pierce plays his core guys for significant and consistent minutes every night, then I fully expect Atlanta to eclipse 30 wins this year. Expect to see a record of approximately 32-50 this season. Although that doesn’t seem like much, it is certainly progress and that is what this team needs now more than anything.
Watch for rookies Trae Young and Kevin Huerter in the All-Rookie team race and look for John Collins to be in the most-improved conversation. Its also likely we see a breakout season from Alex Len, now in a changed environment.
Atlanta boasts intriguing young players followed with a dash of veteran presence. Once they put it all together, Atlanta will a fun team to keep an eye on this season, even if they don’t win many games right away.
