2018-19 Roster

Key subtractions: Dennis Schroder (trade), Mike Muscala (trade), Isaiah Taylor (waived), Tyler Cavanaugh (waived), Antonius Cleveland (waived) Malcolm Delaney (free agency)

This team has a lot more upside than last year’s squad. Although that does not necessarily say much, that would be some well-received progress by Hawks fans. Atlanta finished dead last in the Eastern Conference standings, 15th place, with a record of 24-58.

The Hawks have taken some chances over the course of the offseason and it seems like they are confident that they will pay off. One of the bigger risks they took would be the trade for Trae Young. There have been comparisons flying left and right about him being the next Stephen Curry. While that may be a bit exaggerative, Young has the potential to be a lethal weapon in this fast paced NBA game.

With other incoming pieces like Kevin Huerter and Omari Spellman, the Hawks are starting to see their future core come together. Mix the newcomers with the budding starts like John Collins and Taurean Prince, this is going to be an exciting team to watch provided head coach Lloyd Pearce has these guys ready to compete.
