10. Trey Lyles, Denver Nuggets

It might seem counterintuitive to include a fourth-year player on a list like this, especially since Trey Lyles is coming off something of a breakout year with the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately, the return of a (hopefully) healthy Paul Millsap could hinder his progress on a playoff-hungry team.

Last season, Lyles posted 9.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in just 19.1 minutes per game, but for the three months Millsap was out, his numbers jumped to 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 24.6 minutes per game. He shot an efficient 49.1 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from 3-point range and looked like a possible Millsap successor for the long-term.

With the veteran power forward’s $30 million team option to consider for 2019-20, the pressure is on Millsap to stay healthy and prove his worth. If he doesn’t, or if he can’t stay healthy, Lyles will have his opportunity to replace him, but in the meantime, it’s more likely he sees a decreased role right as he looked ready to blossom.
