The Portland Trail Blazers recently held their Media Day to mark the beginning of training camp. What did we learn from Monday’s chorus of interviews?

Across professional sports, Media Days tend to not be very eventful. However, in the NBA, it marks the unofficial return of basketball season. It also gives fans a look into their favorite players’ headspace as they enter the new year, even if they express those thoughts through broad platitudes.

Media Day is also a venue where certain gems can be picked up with each passing interview. Sometimes, themes develop within the various answers that show the direction the team collectively wants to move in. Other times, news that wasn’t revealed over the summer is unexpectedly broken. This is big within this era of social media and “Woj bombs.”

So bearing this in mind, it’s time to take a look at three things that can be gleaned from the Portland Trail Blazers Media Day interviews with the players, head coach Terry Stotts and general manager Neil Olshey.

Did we find out how the opening night lineup will look? What did players do to improve their game? Is everyone healthy entering training camp? It may not be the most exciting day on the NBA calendar, but there were a few new things to take away from the Portland Trail Blazers’ Media Day.
