9. Otto Porter Jr., Washington Wizards
Maybe it’s his gargantuan contract, but Otto Porter Jr. feels like a far too established player to be a potential breakout candidate. And yet, his career-high numbers last year were a pedestrian 14.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
That’s not to say Porter is a bad player; far from it. His 44.1 percent shooting from 3-point range was crucial in spreading the floor, he shot 50.3 percent from the floor overall and his positional versatility is big on the defensive end.
However, it’s also true that for all the progress his game has made since his days of flirting with “draft bust” territory, he still hasn’t proven himself as the undisputed third member of the Washington Wizards‘ Big 3. Heading into his age-25 season — his sixth in the league — there’s no better time to finally do so.
