3. Carmelo Anthony wants to win

In spite of reaching the postseason for the first time in five years during his lone season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Carmelo Anthony never managed to find his full stride alongside former teammates Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist posted career-lows in scoringusagetrue shooting percentageassists and win shares per 48 minutes en route to producing the worst playoff performance of his illustrious career.

Now, Anthony appears eager to put his past struggles behind him with the Rockets, as the star who once scoffed at the idea of coming off the bench recently expressed that he is willing to do whatever it takes to win the game’s ultimate prize.

"“My goal is to go into training camp, be the best player I can be, be in the best shape I can be and do what I have to do to help this team get over the hump and win a championship,” Anthony told reporters at Rockets Media Day. “Whatever I have to do to help this team win a championship, that’s what’s going to be done.”"

Although Mike D’Antoni has yet to decide whether or not Melo will start or come off the bench this season, the veteran forward’s remarks should help provide Rockets fans with great optimism. Finding a way to thrive alongside James Harden and Chris Paul — regardless of role — could be just what the 34-year-old forward needs to finally get over the hump.
