1. Kyrie Irving may be a Celtic for a long time

The constant rumors swirling around Irving has been a little bit of a distraction for the Celtics. Many people are still wondering what the All-Star point guard will do ahead of the 2019 offseason.

Irving has a player option and it will be interesting to see what he decides to do once he (most likely) opts out. However, as the 2018-19 campaign gets closer and closer, the idea of Irving wearing green and white beyond this season seems more and more likely.

There have been whispers that he could go the New York Knicks and play alongside Jimmy Butler, but as Irving noted in an interview with ESPN‘s Jackie MacMullan, he hasn’t had any long discussions with Butler since they were both on the USA roster in 2016.

He could be downplaying these rumors, but it’s hard to tell until the offseason gets closer. The article goes further into the upcoming season and a possible offseason agenda. At Media Day, Irving had something interesting thing to say.

This was something that will warm the hearts of Celtics fans. Whether that is still true 9-10 months from now remains to be seen. The NBA is an exciting league and things are always changing like crazy. He could change his mind, but right now it looks like Boston has a good chance of keeping Irving for the future.

Chris Forsberg of NBCSBOSTON also posted this about Irving.

Irving may be a Celtic next season, but the season and money will play a factor.

It’ll be something to keep an eye on over the course of the season, but right now, it feels like he’ll be re-signing next summer.
